First of all, I would like to let you know how excited I am to see your children, our students, for what I hope for them will be a wonderful year. My name is Greta Smith and this is my fourteenth year at Nebo Elementary School and my second year as McDowell Early College school nurse. It has been a pleasure and privilege to care for the children in the past, and I look forward to doing so in the future.
We look forward to a healthy start to the 2018-19 school year. My goal is to provide well-care and sick-care to your child, work through any illness, teach good health habits and assist in preventing absences from school. We also plan to have certain screenings and health education classes during the school year.
Along with the traditional nursing care provided to the students, we have Telemedicine health service at Nebo Elementary and MTCC. I am super excited about this service! This service will allow a student in some cases to receive some care from a higher level provider without having to leave school. If you have not signed your child up for this service consents are available at the school. I also am partnered with Christina Wooten, school social worker at Nebo Elementary and we work with a case load of students through the Child and Family Support Team.
It is very important that I am made aware of any medical condition your child has that may require emergency care. It is also important that you are aware of the school policy for administering medications at school, and the policy regarding when your child can return to school when they have had a contagious disease.
Nurse’s Schedule: Nebo M-Tu-F 7:45 a.m. until 3:15 p.m & Early College on Wednesdays and Thursdays 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Please feel free to call the school nurse or come by the school if you have concerns about your child’s health. Do not hesitate to call me at either school if needed.
As I said before, I am thrilled to be serving Nebo Elementary and Early College this year, and am looking forward to caring for your children throughout what I hope will be a healthy and happy learning experience for your child.
